New Snowshoes

Winter weekends can make me a little stir crazy.  Some days I love spending hours playing playdoh and watching kiddie movies and reading books.  But some days not so much.  We hit REI yesterday and got Miles a new pair of snowshoes.  He loved them in the store when he tried them on and I was hoping he would still love them just as much on the trail today.  Success!  He was so excited to put them on and he loved it.  It was a pretty day.  Iris zonked right out in the backpack.  My goal was 20 minutes and we far exceeded that.
All geared up and ready to go!  I was up with Iris the past two mornings at 4:00 AM, so I was wishing I could have a little of his energy!

Wishing the backpack strap didn't do such a great job of accentuating my belly roll, but o well!  I was out enjoying the day with my babies and that's what really matters, right?

A Not-So-Typical Friday

I prefer uneventful Fridays to the one I had yesterday.  It started with a visit from Roto Rooter.  They blasted through some tree roots so we can now flush our toilets again.  A terrible way to spend a few hundred dollars.
Next up...a call from Jeff saying he blew his knee out up at Solitude.  Fortunately, after 24 hours, he's guessing it's just a sprain, but a visit to the doctor on Monday will confirm that.
And finally...I ordered an IPod on Ebay a month ago.  I waited patiently even though the original order said I should have it in a few days.  It finally arrived yesterday and it's a fake piece of junk.  I selected black as my first choice and silver as second.  Lucky me.  Not only is it fake with a menu in Chinese that I may never figure out, but it's hot pink.  I'm getting ready to drag the kids to the Apple store to confirm it's fake before blasting the seller and demanding my money back.
Jeff did manage to fly to California for the weekend to see his grandma.  She has not been doing so well.  I hope they have a great visit.
Hoping for another typical Friday next week.

A Typical Friday

Just hanging out.

Here is a mighty dinosaur parade with Sue the T Rex leading the pack!

Showing Iris how the dinosaur will bite her finger.

This made me laugh.  Thanks Aunt Jen and Uncle Greg for the dinosaur.  It still freaks me out after 2 years!  Glad she just found it funny and not frightening.

And this...just a pair of new shoes for Iris.  I found them on Baby Steals.com.  I always call her my little bird, so they seemed perfect.

Adam and Sarah's visit

Adam and Sarah came to town for the weekend.  It was such a great visit.  I looked forward to it for weeks and weeks, so of course it flew by.  My parents watched their 3 kids back in Indiana for the weekend, so I'm quite sure that right now they are lounging in their Lazy Boy chairs and watching anything but cartoons on TV!  We dropped Miles and Iris off to spend the night with Jeff's folks, then headed up to our timeshare at Wolf Creek.  It was AWESOME to have quiet, adult time.  We had a nice lunch out, checked out the Dew Tour at Snowbasin, and just relaxed together.  It was a treat since we do most of our conversing on the phone for 5 minutes at a time with chaos in the background.

I included this picture because of the bling Adam is sporting.  Our friend hooked us all up with VIP passes to Powder Mountain, so we were required to wear those.  Cat skiing was included so we got to try that out.  It was a blue skied, beautiful day up there.  Perfect!

I just liked this picture.  Our gear...including my new birthday snowboard!

A big shout out to the grandparents for making it possible!  It was great to be away, but so sweet to see Iris' reaction when I walked back in the door!  Miles was probably sad to go home since Grandpa took him to the Kids Museum AND the Dinosaur Park!

It was a sad trip to the airport yesterday morning.  I wish more than anything that we lived closer and could get together more often.  It was a great weekend.  Our next gathering...hopefully Loon Lake for July 4th!

Saying goodbye to a trusty friend

We have been purging lots of baby items these days since we have limited space and plan on making no more babies.  I sold my pump last Friday and I was actually a little sad about it.  For months and months it went everywhere I did.  I used it in all kinds of places...home, hotel rooms, state vehicles while traveling, outside during field work, twice a day at work in the little room off the kitchen...2 feet from coworkers microwaving their Lean Cuisines.  I was very happy to have been able to nurse both kids and actually a little sad to be done.

Was it painful at first?  Yes
Was it challenging?  Yes
Was it time consuming?  Yes
Was it mentally consuming?  Often times
Was it worth it?  Absolutely!

We did supplement as Iris got older.  This next picture?   The very last of the formula.  No more spending $40/week on it at Costco, which is a great thing.  All the more money for diapers, wipes, pull ups, clothing, shoes, food, and all the other stuff we buy at that place  :)

I love Wheeler Farm!

I love Wheeler Farm!  It's a great place to go, especially if you have been cooped up with kids and need a change of scenery and some fresh air.  They have animals out year round, so there is always some action.  We went yesterday for the first time in months.  Miles got to run wild and burn energy chasing the geese and launching puddles.  Iris was excited to see the animals.  Jeff got this great video of a goat loving on her stroller.  I just have to remember to Clorox the food trays before I give her a snack on our next walk :)
