Happy 1st Birthday Iris!

I can't believe my baby girl is a year old already!  What a great year.  I am so thankful for having such an easy baby #2.  She is a great eater and sleeper.  She is happy and giggly.  She has beautiful eyes and cute cheeks and 5 little teeth.  She has shoulder dimples, which I need to photograph before they disappear, and awesome pinchable, chunky thighs.  I have so many great memories of this first year.  I can't wait to see how she grows and learns and what kind of little person she will become!

First word: Mom
I was excited, of course, and she started saying it when we were home in Indiana for Thanksgiving!

Some likes:
  • bath time
  • watching Bella
  • stroller walks
  • green bean casserole
  • the exersaucer
  • stealing Miles' trains and dragons now that she is mobile
  • cake (see photos!)

Merry Christmas 2010!

It was a fun Christmas this year!  Miles was super excited and completely overwhelmed by all the presents he got to unwrap.  I kept looking around my disaster of a living room...covered with toys and clothes and cardboard and wrapping paper, thinking that if the biggest of my worries in life is where we will put all the new loot, then things must be pretty good.  I put Iris in a Christmas outfit and she looked so cute, even if she was covered in snot and drool because she has at least 3 teeth coming in right now.  I still can't believe she will be a year old in just a few days.  Time flies!

Treats!

I decided to spend Friday afternoon baking some treats to take to the neighbors.  Miles was excited to "help".  After licking red hots and returning them all to the container (after I used what I needed), then sticking his entire hand into the frosting container, I decided maybe he should just lick his fingers and watch some TV!  We had a good time delivering plates to everyone on the street.  I love my neighbors!

Holiday cheers...and tears

Santa came to daycare yesterday.  I was super excited because this is the year Miles is understanding the Santa thing. If not for the fact that there were 50 excited kids, at least as many excited parents, super hot temperature and my head pounding because of a sinus infection, it might have been a little more fun.  Poor Iris.  Her first time on Santa's lap and she was miserable.  I was hoping for a great photo of them, but I only got a few mediocre ones.  Maybe next year.  Doesn't Santa look thrilled?!

Finally!

I have been talking about starting a blog for ages and I'm excited to give it a shot.  I plan to keep it simple and use it as a tool to share photos and random happenings with family and friends.  I have been inspired by friends who have done a great job of blogging and capturing all kinds of stuff...the happy, the sad, the fun, the exciting and the challenging realities of parenting.  I feel like someone hit fast forward on my life the day Miles was born and I forget so many of the little things about my kids.  Hopefully this will help me remember.
